“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Christopher Reeve
"True heroism is remarkably sober, very un-dramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others, at whatever cost." Arthur Ashe
My 9 year old son asked me the other day if I watched the Twin Towers fall, as he was very intrigued with all the media coverage in Remembrance of 9/11. At his age and exactly 10 years after that horrific day, it is part of history. After watching many of the TV specials and learning about the events, he has realized it was a time when America was tested and heroes were born. One of the local news stations was covering a story in which surveillance footage was recovered from that day. It showed many first responders filing into the Towers and the staff security officer holding the door open as they entered. Instead of heading for safety in the opposite direction, as many others were doing, the young lady holding door rushed in right after last of the first responders entered. She never left the Tower alive; she was one of the many that lost their life on that tragic day. This selfless act to serve and protect, was very moving to my son. My son, along with many of his fellow young Americans, has gained a new perspective of what a Hero is.
We all witnessed the heroism from 9/11, but continue to realize the special role our first responders have in all of our lives. Whether it be in our work, community, neighborhoods, or hour homes, routine calls or in the face of horrific terror, First Responders are there to serve you and I!
Scentsy is proud to honor our every day heroes who fight to keep us safe. We have been able to honor our armed forces with the Patriot Collection, and now we give tribute to our Police Officers and Firefighters with the Hero Collection. Thank you to all of you who serve!
